it looks like you have some good material. you need a better trailer IMO.

We finally shot the giant spider fight and the gladiator scene last weekend, so maybe I'll cut a new trailer. So what is it about this trailer that leaves you feeling a little flat? Are you left with a "WTF?!" feeling because we removed the audio from the clips at the end? Is the percussion at the end too repetitive? If you could elaborate, I'd appreciate it.

it lacks a pervasive 'hook' in my opinion. it leaves me in anticipation of nothing. maybe you already did this, but why not dig out some old B movie trailers and draw inspiration from them?

basically there's nothing in the trailer which grabbed me by the throat and whispered in a gravelly voice into my ear: "watch this!"

a lot of trailers (IMO) advertise the "turning point" of the movie to reel you in.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Its funny you mention that. The original trailer we put together was modeled after the trailer for
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, but we decided that it felt too slow and lacked energy. That led us to this version with the slow intro that pops into the fast montage which is almost the exact opposite of the vintage trailers. The I guess I should try to find a happy middle ground.

Its always tricky walking the fine line between "spoiler" and "reason to watch"...
